Tools of the Trade

October 16th, 2008

I have always wanted to collaborated with other artists to learn different styles, techniques, and skills. However, there are times when we are looking for new ways, which begs the question: “Should I get this tool?”

More often, this quote is used in a immature way:
“Should I get Adobe Photoshop?”
“Is Corel Painter better than Manga Studio?”
“Is your mom is hot?”

The point is, will it get the job done?

At first, if you do “begged” the questions, I strongly recommend to use the idea, or tool itself, rather than seeking an personal opinion that overrides yours.

Basically, do not allow yourself to be controlled by opinions.

As explained in the Anime Expo: Self-Publishing, Promoting, and Marketing, a true artist takes the tool, use it, then review it. Just like a critic! All part of the experimenting for new techniques.

That’s why I try before I buy. And if I can’t try it, then that’s where we go on the next stage. Google. Where is d the question, “Is this tool worth it”?
